Hey everyone! This is your Drive-time Tech Diva, JC Lamkin from the Technically Speaking Radio program.

This week’s TPN Weekly is a look at job search, tech tips, tools, and tricks for organizing and getting the best results from your online job search efforts.

With a close to 10% unemployment rate, many are looking for job. If this is your first time looking for a job for a while, you may find that the employment search process has changed drastically.

Historically, one might look in the Sunday newspaper for job openings. Now, one posts a resume on Jobcircle.com, Dice, or Monster. Because the job market is particularly competitive, it’s important to make the most out of your online job search time.

Tools like Google’s Autofill will help you complete online employment forms that ask for redundant information such as your name, address, phone number and email address.

This tool will save you time while keeping your data safe.

After creating your AutoFill profile, click the AutoFill button to automatically fill forms with the information you’ve provided. If you’ve
set up multiple profiles, click the down arrow next to the AutoFill button to choose which profile you’d like to use.

When using AutoFill, be mindful of the information you’re providing. It’s important that you use this feature only on websites you trust, as certain websites might try to capture your information in hidden or hard-to-see fields.

If you’re unsure about what information you’re providing, you can see a preview of your data before it’s entered in the form by hovering your cursor over the AutoFill button or one of your profiles.

Many professionals have found that proper use of social networking sites such as Linkedin.com and Plaxo.com help to quickly identify and market to hiring managers and recruiters. By properly completing your Linkedin.com profile, you will instantly connect with people you have gone to school with, worked with and associated with.

For example, if you have your heart set on working at the University of Pennsylvania, the largest employer in Philadelphia, after logging into Linkedin.com, you can search on “University of Pennsylvania” , find and connect with several people who work there. More importantly, you will be able to quickly identify if there are people who work for the University of Pennsylvania that are already in your network.

Hey everyone! This is your Drive-time Tech Diva (http://jclamkin.wordpress.com), JC Lamkin (http://www.blackspeakers.com/profiles/jc_lamkin.html) from the Technically Speaking Radio program (http://http://technically-speaking-radio.blogspot.com/).

This week’s TPN Weekly (http://blog.techpodcasts.com/) is a look at job search, tech tips, tools, and tricks for organizing and getting the best results from your online job search efforts.

With a close to 10% unemployment rate, many are looking for job. If this is your first time looking for a job for a while, you may find that the employment search process has changed drastically.

Historically, one might look in the Sunday newspaper for job openings. Now, one posts a resume on Jobcircle.com (http://jobcircle.com/), Dice (http://www.dice.com), or Monster (http://www.monster.com). Because the job market is particularly competitive, it's important to make the most out of your online job search time.

Tools like Google's Autofill (http://toolbar.google.com) will help you complete online employment forms that ask for redundant information such as your name, address, phone number and email address.

This tool will save you time while keeping your data safe.

After creating your AutoFill profile, click the AutoFill button to automatically fill forms with the information you've provided. If you've
set up multiple profiles, click the down arrow next to the AutoFill button to choose which profile you'd like to use.

When using AutoFill, be mindful of the information you're providing. It's important that you use this feature only on websites you trust, as certain websites might try to capture your information in hidden or hard-to-see fields.

If you're unsure about what information you're providing, you can see a preview of your data before it's entered in the form by hovering your cursor over the AutoFill button or one of your profiles.

Many professionals have found that proper use of social networking sites such as Linkedin.com (http://www.linkedin.com) and Plaxo.com (http://www.plaxo.com) help to quickly identify and market to hiring managers and recruiters. By properly completing your Linkedin.com (http://www.linkedin.com/) profile, you will instantly connect with people you have gone to school with, worked with and associated with.

For example, if you have your heart set on working at the University of Pennsylvania, the largest employer in Philadelphia, after logging into Linkedin.com (http://www.linkedin.com/), you can search on "University of Pennsylvania (http://www.upenn.edu)" , find and connect with several people who work there. More importantly, you will be able to quickly identify if there are people who work for the University of Pennsylvania (http://www.upenn.edu) that are already in your network.

Additionally, once you've joined a Linkedin.com (http://www.linkedin.com/) group, you will see the job postings listed in that group. Groups are online cafes where people of similar interests connect. Job recruiters and job seekers are often found discussing news and information in their respective industries.

Remember to use your Facebook (http://www.facebook.com) network effectively. Change your Facebook (http://www.facebook.com) privacy settings to make certain personal pictures and information can only be viewed by family members.

Utilizing Summarize (http://search.twitter.com/), http://search.twitter.com/ (http://search.twitter.com/), will help you find recruiters who are seeking candidates with your skill set.

<itunes:summary>Holiday Tech Preparedness, being prepared isn't just for Boy Scouts anymore

Hello, I’m Paul Rj Muller host of the CaffiNation Podcast (../),over at www.caffination.com (../). My Show focuses on the high octane world of Technology News and Caffeinated Culture. We’re all geeks at heart, I just happen to geek out on coffee and tech news both at the same time.

On Today’s edition of the TPN Weekly I'll be giving you a quick and dirty rundown of some lightweight applications you can download and tools you can bring on your holiday excursions. As Techs we know that family are going to ask for help with shiny presents during the holiday season. So now that the shiny has been bought and the shipping has been paid you have just enough time to prepare for the questions.

Hello everyone, I’m Norbert Davis, host of the Totally Cool Tech Podcast. I’ll be your Host this week for the TPN Weekly podcast, You can find my show at www.totallycooltech.com or www.tctpodcast.com. I have been producing and hosting the Totally Cool Tech Daily Podcast for about 2 years, and I have been with TPN since about August or September of 2005 and started back in May 15, 2005 with the Norbtek.info Podcast.

If you are not familiar with the Totally Cool Tech Podcast let me give you a brief explanation of what you will find on my show. The best way I can describe the Totally Cool Tech Podcast is my tag line – “Bringing you the Hottest in Cool Tech. No matter if its Old School or New School, High Tech or Low Tech, its all still, Cool Tech”. And that is what I try to deliver every week. Something cool, new, or off the beaten path. Even old technologies that are being used to do something new is considered Cool Tech. Now I won’t be bringing you the latest cell phone news because everyone else will be doing that.

This is the time of year that I start going over the cool things that are coming up for Christmas. Yeah, I’m a sucker for Christmas and the fun of opening gifts, those that I get and those that I have given. Typically I have done a “Christmas countdown” or a “Geeks Christmas list” and this year shall be no different. So, I will start my countdown on this show, which will not be released on my regular feed but I will put a link on the TCT Website for my regular listeners. this way YOU will have a head start on some of the coolest things for Christmas. So let’s go!

Today’s podcast is sponsored by GotoMeeting by the great folks over at Citrix! Try it free for 30 days at www.GoToMeeting.com/techpodcasts. No credit card needed.

Childs Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org)

Since 2003, over 100,000 gamers worldwide have banded together through Child’s Play, a community based charity grown and nurtured from the game culture and industry. Over 5 million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since its inception.

This year, They have continued expanding across the country and the globe. With almost 70 partner hospitals and more arriving every month, you can be sure there si one in your area that needs your help! You can choose to purchase requested items from their online retailer wish lists, or make a cash donation that helps out Child’s Play hospitals everywhere. Any items purchased through Amazon will be shipped directly to your hospital of choice, so please be sure to select their shipping address rather than your own. <itunes:subtitle>Welcome to the TPN Weekly Episode #31 for the week of November 15th, 2009. - Hello everyone, I'm Norbert Davis, host of the Totally Cool Tech Podcast. I'll be your Host this week for the TPN Weekly podcast, You can find my show at www.totallycooltech.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Welcome to the TPN Weekly Episode #31 for the week of November 15th, 2009.

Hello everyone, I'm Norbert Davis, host of the Totally Cool Tech Podcast (http://www.totallycooltech.com/). I'll be your Host this week for the TPN Weekly podcast, You can find my show at www.totallycooltech.com or www.tctpodcast.com.

The best way I can describe the Totally Cool Tech Podcast is my tag line - "Bringing you the Hottest in Cool Tech. No matter if its Old School or New School, High Tech or Low Tech, its all still, Cool Tech". And that is what I try to deliver every week. Something cool, new, or off the beaten path. Even old technologies that are being used to do something new is considered Cool Tech. Now I won't be bringing you the latest cell phone news because everyone else will be doing that.

This is the time of year that I start going over the cool things that are coming up for Christmas. Yeah, I'm a sucker for Christmas and the fun of opening gifts, those that I get and those that I have given. Typically I have done a "Christmas countdown" or a "Geeks Christmas list" and this year shall be no different. So, I will start my countdown on this show, which will not be released on my regular feed but I will put a link on the TCT Website for my regular listeners. this way YOU will have a head start on some of the coolest things for Christmas. So let's go!
